Roti john — a Malaysian street-food sandwich of spiced minced beef and egg griddled onto an open baguette until crisp, finished with mayonnaise or sambal. Hearty and satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb Minced Beef
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 tbs Chilli
  • 1/2 Baguette
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Pepper
  • Top Mayonnaise

Preparation

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Heat a pan or griddle with a little vegetable oil.
  3. Pour the mixture onto the pan and place a piece of open-faced baguette on top.
  4. Press on the bread with a spatula and grill for 2 minutes.
  5. Turn the bread over to make it a little crispy.
  6. Remove from the pan and cut the bread into small portions.
  7. Add mayonnaise and/or sambal before serving, if you like.
