Shawarma bread — a simple homemade flatbread that puffs up in the pan to form a soft pocket. Perfect for stuffing with shawarma, falafel or your favourite fillings.
- 1 cup Flour
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- Splash Water

Preparation
- Sieve the flour and add the baking powder, salt, sugar and oil, then mix together.
- Add water and knead the dough for about 10 minutes.
- Cover the dough and allow it to rise.
- Once risen, transfer to a work surface and form a round (you can use a plate or pot lid as a guide).
- Heat your pan and place the bread in.
- It will start puffing, then turn it over.
- Lastly, put it in a warm place, and you'll see it has formed a pocket.
