Torta de fiambre — a savoury Uruguayan ham and cheese cake with a soft, custardy batter baked until golden. Simple, comforting and lovely served hot or cold with fresh herbs.
- 150g Cheddar Cheese
- 200g Ham
- 3 Egg
- 100g Vegetable Oil
- 240g Milk
- 120g All Purpose Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Salt
- To taste Dried Oregano

Preparation
- Line the bottom of a 20–22cm (8–9 inch) springform with parchment paper, leaving some overhang as the batter is very liquid and may spill. Preheat the oven to 220°C.
- Grate the cheese and take out the ham.
- Mix all the remaining ingredients in a large bowl for about one to two minutes.
- Pour half the batter into the prepared pan — it will be very liquid. Place the ham and cheese on top, then pour the remaining batter over.
- Bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden. Wait a few minutes before releasing from the pan, and enjoy hot or cold with some fresh herbs.
